Common Core and Training Wheels

In my district, we are in an implementation year to get used to Common Core Geometry.  Implementation year is code word for "training wheels transitioning to riding a bike".  If you remember anything about learning to ride a bike, it was brutal.  Well, it was for me. Endo over the handlebars, crash into a car, a tree, my brother.  It was messy.  But man, when I learned to ride a bike, it was so much more invigorating than those pesky training wheels.

The Homework Struggle Continues

To a fault, I care about my kids.  Every single one of them takes up space in my heart and mind.  When planning lessons and pacing, I try to think of as many learners as possible.  Of course, it's tough to get all 185 accommodated for 180 school days, but it's worth a shot.  My latest ear to the ground has told me that kids hate homework.
