I have to make a very difficult confession: I don't read enough. Even worse than that, I don't read enough books about education. When a book catches my attention, it's usually something like Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell or Trade-Off by Kevin Maney. These books aren't about education in a direct sense, but they're all about education when you draw the comparisons. Another book that is one that I've never heard mentioned in any of the book clubs that I never attend (nor belong to for that matter... hmmm, maybe there's the problem. Oh well).

There are certain projects and lessons that mean more than others. This whole idea of giving students back 1/5 of their time has been a decision that could have gone in a number of directions. Students could be completely waisting their time, messing around and taking advantage of their time. This is about as far from the truth as we could possibly get. Week 6 brought out some true gems and supported the belief that school and community can work well together.
