Putting Duct Tape On The Bird

The past week has been incredibly refreshing.  I almost completely unplugged, spent time with family and friends, and just observed quite a bit of interaction.  After all, this is the way things used to be. We would sit around and talk.  Many of my friends and family are not in education.  I get to share what I'm doing and how it's going and they're intrigued.  That is, until I get to Twitter and how it has helped me evolve as a person and professional.  They ask the inevitable "why is Twitter so important to you?"

So I asked a similar question:

If twitter/SM stopped functioning, how would you continue to collaborate with those you've built connections with? #caedchat

So really, this little bird has only been around for a few years.  I just started tweeting about a year ago.  If Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and any other social media platform ceased to exist tomorrow, how (or could) you continue to grow as a professional?
